I was sure I’ve written about prewalking before, but I can’t find any mention of it. Instead, Kottke covered it back in 2006.

I’m not sure their pricing model invites mass take-up. $1.99 for the NY subway? Oh, OK, it’s not too bad. But $4.99 for the Kindle? Wait. The Kindle?! Oh, looks like an e-book and not some clever hack. Boooo.
