Rolling is so much less dangerous than tumbling |
I actually took a backup of my address book before syncing with Google using the new Mac OS X “functionality”. However, it turns out that the backup was corrupt. Fortunately, as below, Time Machine came to the rescue.
Apple: “Everything just works”. My ass. What with their file-copy-abort deletion bug, with this retarded Google Sync shit and with the myriad issues with Time Machine and Time Capsule (which finally appear to be working OK together), Leopard has been a somewhat dangerous joke. Oh, and now, with the latest version of Leopard, saving Adobe CS3 files to a remote drive corrupts them. W. T. F?
Anybody who made the mistake of trying this feature out in 10.5.3’s new address book will be happy to know that pointing time machine at an older version of (user)/Library/Application Support/Addressbook and clicking “restore” will remove the thousands of useless email addresses that Google will dump into your contacts.
What a stupid fucking idea. Hey, Google, learn to differenciate between “a contact” and “some dude that I emailed once, back in 2005 when I needed to buy a couch off of craigslist.”
