This is known to me as Shower Time.
The only time I come up with original ideas any more, pretty much without exception, is when I am in the shower. Of course, I can’t write them down, but they come so fast that I can’t remember them all by the time I get out.
Being underwater in the bath is similar.
I had a very clear vision the other day, whilst contemplating this very conundrum in the bath of all places, of having an assistant scribble down ideas just as fast as I was voicing them. Then I realised that that’s just the kind of obnoxious twat that you read about in history books whose assistants curiously never went the trouble of recording anything nice about him (I’d say “or her” but naked women in baths don’t appear in history books).
Update: I remember now that I once did some research into waterproof paper so that I could hang some in the shower for this very reason. There are a few different versions, and a few different kinds. Perhaps the most useful would be to have a waterproof whiteboard mounted on the shower wall. But I’m worried that that’s slightly insane.
