If I had known this when I was in the RAF cadets, I might not have given up on the boots so soon. It seemed a bit random to me - sometime I could polish for 30 minutes and get nothing. Once or twice after just 10 minutes I had a fantastic shine.
All it took was one clumsy oaf though and your boot was scuffed. It just didn’t seem worth it.
